Barn Transformed Into Stylish Cottage

November 28, 2017

With some DIY effort and a $60,000 budget, this old and dilated barn was transformed into a bright and beautiful cottage!

The home's owner, Brett Van Sickle, a retired ballet dance, had purchased a property in Greensville, Ontario, that came with an old barn in the back. The previous owner had used it as a garage and it had largely become abandoned and fallen into a state of disrepair. Deciding it would make a great guesthouse, Brett got to work renovating the space with the hope of doing as much of the work himself.

The finished result was a bright and stylish space that was so beautiful, Brett ultimately decided to move into the cottage himself. The new and improved space had windows added and the ceiling raised to 20' so the upstairs loft could be used as a functional bedroom. Wormy maple has added as flooring throughout the space and white paint helped to illuminate the home.

All in all, a beautiful renovation well done!
